Facebook violating privacy rights?

POSTED on Jun 17 under e-commerce, privacy

It was only a matter of time before someone launched a privacy complaint against a social networking site. Facebook is the focus of a recent complaint submitted by a group of University of Ottawa law students. For details, look at today’s post on Aydin Mirzaee’s blog.

How much privacy can any person reasonably expect when they are posting personal pictures on a website with millions of subscribers?

I am less interested in what is ultimately decided about whether Facebook is violating privacy laws or not, and more interested in whether the case might raise the bar for privacy compliance with other businesses in Canada.
